Meet

our staff

Dr. Glenda Van Wyk is a Pella native. She graduated from Pella Community High School, and then earned her biology degree from Central College. Dr. Van Wyk attended Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she graduated with her DVM in 2006.

Dr. Van Wyk has always had a love of animals. She told her parents she was going to be a veterinarian when she was in grade school and she never wavered. She began working at a veterinary clinic when she was 16 and has never looked back! While she loves all animals, Dr. Van Wyk has a soft spot in her heart for the feline persuasion. She enjoys earning cats’ trust and managing their unique medical needs.

Dr. Van Wyk lives outside of Pella with her husband, Jeremy, their 3 children, Gillian, Gracyn and Jeryn, and their 6 cats and 2 dogs. When she is not at work, you will find her cheering on her children at one of their many extra-curricular activities.

Dr. Van Wyk is looking forward to taking care of you and your pet(s)!

Donna lives in Sully with her husband Denny, 2 teenage sons Dylan and Deven, and their 3 dogs and 5 cats.

Connie

Office Manager

Connie Henle is our office manager.  Connie has been a Pella native for over 40 years.  She graduated from Belle Plaine High School and attended Coe College before starting her family.  She then went back to college and graduated from Central College in 1995.  In January 2021, she retired from Central College after 30 years of service.

Connie has always enjoyed animals and is excited to be working with them every day.  She loves getting to meet and pet all the animals that come through the door.  The best benefit to working at the clinic though, is getting to work with her daughter, Dr. Van Wyk.

Connie lives in Pella with her husband Dennis.  She enjoys quilting and reading and loves to spend time with her five grandchildren whenever she gets the chance!

Connie is enjoying learning all the ins and outs of a veterinary clinic.  She looks forward to meeting you and your pet(s)!

Abby (and Archie, her cat)

Receptionist

Abby Riddle is our receptionist.  Abby graduated from Pella High School in 2017.  She then attended Kirkwood Community College pursuing a degree in liberal arts.

Abby has always had a love for animals.  She has been working in animal shelters, veterinary clinics, and dog kennels since the age of 14. Abby still gets to be involved with the animals, just in a little different capacity.  She enjoys getting to meet and greet the clients and of course their pet(s)!

Abby lives in Pella with her family and her cat Archie.

Abby is ready to help you and your pet(s) with all of your needs!

Gabbi

Kennel Manager

Gabbi Van Baale is our kennel manager. She was born and raised in Monroe, Iowa. She graduated from PCM High School in 2020.

Gabbi has worked with animals her entire life and has always dreamed of working in a veterinary clinic. She has a passion for rescuing and taking care of bottle babies. In her free time, Gabbi enjoys spending time with her two pups, Bogey and Willow.

Gabbi is very excited to take care of all your pets that are staying with us while you are away!

Katie (Astro, her dog)

Groomer

Katie Zaffiro grew up in Pella, IA. She graduated from Pella High School, and then Central College, with an art degree. Katie has always loved dogs and other animals, so combining her love of dogs with the art of dog grooming just made sense.

Katie will be patient and kind with your pet’s grooming experience. She believes the best way to learn is hands on. Katie has been grooming her own dog (Astro) for 7 years. She has also been grooming other dogs at home for 2 years to practice and gain experience. Katie has also job shadowed with our former groomer.

Katie lives in Pella, close to her parents, Jim and Louise Zaffiro. She enjoys good ramen and cartoons. She also loves cuddling with her dog, buying him toys, and spoiling him all around. Katie is ready to spoil your pets too, with a safe and gentle grooming experience that they will love.

Terrance

FEO (Feline Executive Officer)

Terrance is our FEO. He came to us as a feral stray that wandered into our groomer’s yard. The ladies here quickly saw his potential and Terrance has never left the building! As a matter of fact, he will run in the opposite direction of any open door.

Terrance has made our office his home. He is most comfortable bossing from the prep area of our clinic, so you may or may not see him during your visits. He provides much love and entertainment to our staff.
